  1. you know, I have never heard of this stuff before…and within the last week, I’ve had 2 friends mention it

I can’t stand Anise…so I guess I will not be trying this stuff my self

but I need to ask, were you hallousinating after it…I keep hearing thats why it was banned in the US for so long

    • I wasn’t hallucinating after—I think it was proven that that was a mythical side effect of absinthe. I read that the reason it was banned was because there were trace amounts of some sort of poison that caused tuberculosis and made people crazy, but the truth is that someone would have to die of alcohol poisoning three times over before the poison would have an effect.

It was definitely something I’m glad I tried once after wanting to for so long, but NO MORE! That shit is expensive, too.

  2. All I can say is that, thanks to you, I have relived a horrific night in some horrific club in Ibiza and I completely agree that Absinthe was invented by the devil himself because I usually tend not to run around with my shoes on my ears and make horse sounds.

  3. Thank you for your sweet comments on my Kindergarten post! I highly enjoyed your blog… and will definitely not be sampling the absinthe:-) Thank you for sharing.

  4. Yikes! Definitely would have been table vomit if I was there for the absinthe.
Glad you’re still able to talk after it!

  5. Never tried it, but I love black licorice.
Jagermeister makes me feel the same way, ugh.

  6. Love! I am so trying this crap when I come across it.

  7. I like anise in baked goods, and I love fennel in salads, but I do not like black licorice! I can’t imagine that I would like this, either. You’re brave for trying it! I get crazy even when I drink regular alcohol. I’m not allowed to smoke weed (a rule I imposed on myself after a night with one too many pixie stix) because I’m already paranoid on a good day. I think weed and/or absinthe would ignite and magnify my super power to annoy the shit out of everyone within a 20-mile radius of my person.
